Decision Successfull

Well, after a long 2 month wait, what a pleasant way to start the week. Got a call this morning from our Immigration consultant saying he'd just checked and our application status has now changed to "Decision Successful". Basically, this means that as long as all is well with our medicals and police clearances, and that we haven't told any fibs on our initial application, we should get residence within the next couple of months.

Now the paper chase begins! Woohoo!!!

Congratulations, both! We left the "beloved country", too, having had our son. It's a big decision to emigrate, but we've had no regrets.

Hi Andrew - sure we will see you there! My husband is leaving on Sunday for a LSD... I am convinced he will return positively motivated by the abundance of beauty and lack of "Africanised" problems. Best wishes to you and your family.

Hi Andrew, thxs for all your info posted on the ENZ website and replies to my queries. May I ask - how old are your children - we have a son of 2 years and hoping for another 1 next year! My biggest struggle is the thought of leaving family behind - especially grandparents. Also - do you know how long you have to get to NZ once accepted (anything like OZ - 6 months to get there and you have 5 years to return and settle, or something like that)- of course if you have a job offer, I suppose you have to get there fast! We are just at the beginning stages of this whole NZ thought process. Dont want to alarm family and friends by talking about NZ and asking questions. Such a heartsore thought about the possibility of leaving SA. But really we want our child to have more options for his future....

Ours are 3 and 10 months, so pretty close to you guys. Good luck with your attempt next year

One of our major problems too. My folks live in PMB and are not too happy that we are heading off especially with 2 of there grandkids. However hopefully we'll survive. Luckily Sue's (my wife) Mom and sister live in Auckland, so we're kinda swapping one family for the other.

Once you have perm residence you have 1 year to activate your visa (all of you visit and get passports stamped) and then, if I remember correctly, you have an additional 2 years to move, so at max 3 years from being granted PR.

Yip, we've hung in as long as we could. We both love SA and have fantastic lifestyles here. Far more than we will be able to afford in NZ, but we are tired of constantly looking over our shoulders and also worrying about the kids future. My take is that I will never forgive myself if something were to happen to my boys and I had passed on the opportunity to take them away from this.
